CB-CID probe sought into DDE admissions

October 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - MADURAI:

The Joint Action Council-Madurai Kamaraj University (JAC-MKU) has appealed to the Secretary for Higher Education Apoorva to order a CB-CID enquiry into the alleged irregularities in lateral entry admission made by MKU’s Directorate of Distance Education for 2014-15.

In a memorandum sent to the Secretary, the office-bearers of four associations, including Madurai Kamaraj University Faculty Association and Madurai Kamaraj University Administrative Staff Association, listed out various irregularities in admission and claimed that the (then) Registrar had even asked the Director of Distance Education to stop lateral entries.

The memorandum alleged that admissions were made without Transfer Certificate and application forms were not properly processed.

Admissions were directly made to the second year M.Com. course under ‘re-admission,’ “without following regulations.”

It also claimed that some students had appeared for examinations without hall tickets. The JAC-MKU said that over 1000 admissions had been made for courses like B. A., B. Com., B. Sc., BBA and certain PG courses.
