MADURAI

After Pudukottai police booked BJP national secretary H. Raja under various Sections of the IPC for confronting a police officer and bad mouthing the Madras High Court, five persons from Meiyappapuram where the incident took place filed petitions seeking anticipatory bail before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

M. Vaithilingam, G. Chockalingam, P. Perumal, C. Radhakrishnan and M. Rathinam from Meiyappapuram apprehended arrest after they claimed that police had booked a case against Mr. Raja and ‘others.’ As they belonged to the same village, they feared that they could be included under ‘others’ and hence filed the plea seeking anticipatory bail. They claimed that they were only part of the procession and had nothing to do with the incident.
