Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday said that the inspiration derived from the works of Bharathiyar was the reason behind the success of many women in life.

Speaking at the ‘Bharathi Vizha’ organised by Bharathi Tamil Sangam here, Ms. Tamilisai said that she was inspired by the work of the legendary poet since her school days and it was one of the reasons behind her success. “It is difficult for women to be in public life. But if you have Bharathiyar’s words in mind, you would be able to overcome any obstacle in life,” she said. The words of Bharathiyar instilled a sense of courage and enthusiasm among the people rather than sad emotions despite his poverty and the difficult times he lived in, she said.

Bharathiyar had heaped praises on the role of women, and called them ‘chakravarthini’, which shows the respect he had for them. “Not all women have risen in life. A lot of them are eager to succeed. They should be sweet as a sugarcane, and should be strong as iron,” she added.

“In life, one should live with courage and happiness. Veezhven endru ninaikadhe’ (don’t think you would fall), rise again with resolve and lead a happy life,” she said.

Earlier, Vasuki Manoharan, an orator, spoke on the topic ‘Women in the perspective of Bharathiyar.’ Organisers of the event and BJP cadre were present.
