Two detained under Goondas Act

The district police have detained under Goondas Act two accused who were involved in murder and other criminal cases.

Acting on the recommendations of Superintendent of Police N. Manivannan, Collector S. Natarajan ordered the detention of G. Thiyagarajan (24) and R. Vinothkumar (24) under the preventive Act on Saturday.

The two from Vagainagar near Emaneswaram and Singarathoppu in Paramakudi were arrested on May 20 after they robbed a person near Paramakudi, and lodged in district jail here.

Paramakudi Town Inspector Ramanathan served the detention order on them on Saturday, after which they were lodged in Madurai Central Prison. The duo were arrested on three occasions since 2012. They were also arrested under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
