Three more chargesheets filed in granite cases

The district police filed chargesheet in three more granite-related cases, including two against granite-baron P. Palanichamy, on Wednesday.

The first case was related to quarrying of granite in poromboke land and a irrigation channel in Keelaiyur. The chargesheet, running to 1,303 pages, accused Palanichamy and 26 others of having caused a loss of ₹ 6.74 crore.

In second case, Palanichamy and 26 others were charged of causing a loss of ₹ 201.64 crore by quarrying granite on the cart path and Public Works Department channel in Keelaiyur. Both the cases were dealt by Inspector of Police, District Crime Branch, Prakash.

The chargesheet in the last case was against Vellaikaran alias Theivendran and his wife Amsavali of having cheated a granite quarry to the tune of ₹ 35,750 after buying granites. Inspector of Police P.N. Rajasingh filed the chargesheet.
