Ritheesh moves court to relax bail conditions

Ramanthapuram Member of Parliament K. Sivakumar alias J.K. Ritheesh Kumar (38) moved the Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday against an order passed by a lower court on Wednesday restraining him from entering Ramanathapuram district.

Granting conditional bail to him in an assault case registered by the Thiruppalaikudi police station on Monday, the Ramanathapuram Principal District and Sessions Judge had directed the MP to stay in Madurai and sign before the Tallakulam police station here every day until further orders.

The MP claimed that the conditions were arbitrary and onerous. “The petitioner is an important leader of a political party… If he is not allowed to enter into Ramanathapuram district, his fundamental right to propagate the election manifesto of his party will be curtailed,” his petition stated.

P. Narayanan (38), one of the victims injured in the assault, had filed an intervening application claiming that the MP might tamper with the evidence and win over the witnesses in the case if he is allowed to enter Ramanthapuram district.
