Tuticorin Police has claimed to have solved the mystery behind the murder of Rajarajan, brother of former Vilathikulam Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA Kumaragurupara Ramanathan, by arresting the victim’s wife Krishnaveni and her paramour Shajahan.

Police said Rajarajan was found murdered in Karisal forest area near Ariyanayakipuram in Tuticorin district on Sept 21.

Police said Krishnaveni had allegedly told Shajahan that her husband was drinking and torturing her daily and asked him to murder her husband.

Shajahan had taken Rajarajan and some of his friends to the forest area and gave them drinks. When Rajarajan fell down after drinking, he allegedly hit him on his head killing him on the spot.

Police arrested Krishnaveni and Shajahan and remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days starting from Thursday 24 September.
