Advance bail granted to MP, three others

April 01, 2011 01:18 am | Updated 01:18 am IST - MADURAI:

The Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to B. Manicka Tagore, Member of Parliament; P.M. Mannan, Deputy Mayor of Madurai; N. Suresh Babu, a highways contractor and ‘Misa' M. Pandiyan, a Madurai Corporation Councillor, in a criminal case registered by Thirunagar police.

Justice R.S. Ramanathan granted the bail. The case was booked after the petitioners had allegedly picked up a quarrel with the police during a vehicle check in the run-up to Assembly elections.

The petitioners accused the police personnel of harassing them and inspecting their vehicles in about 30 places between Tirumangalam and Tirupparankundram.
