A marathon to strengthen the bond between police and fishermen

With a view to improve relationship between the police personnel attached to the Coastal Security Group (CSG) and fishermen, a 21-km mini marathon run was held in Kanniyakumari district on Sunday.

The marathon run was flagged off and led by Additional Director General of Police C. Sylendra Babu in the presence of General Secretary of South Asian Fishermen Fraternity (SAFF) Fr. Churchil. Over fifty police personnel attached to the CSG, fishermen and college students participated in the mini marathon.

Flagging off the marathon, Mr. Sylendra Babu said, “it was organised for an improved relationship between the fishermen in coastal villages in Kanniyakumari district.”

The marathon began at 5.30 a.m. from Gandhi Memorial in Kanniyakumari and ended at around 8 a.m. at Anna Stadium in Nagercoil.

At the end of the marathon, Mr. Sylendra Babu gave away participation certificates and a mementos.
