Minister for Information ‘Kadambur’ C. Raju disbursed loans to the tune of ₹ 6.12 crore to 957 beneficiaries during the Cooperative Week celebrations held here on Monday.
A total of 667 beneficiaries received loans to the tune of ₹ 3.17 crore from the Thoothukudi District Central Cooperative Bank and the Thoothukudi Melur Cooperative Bank gave loans to the tune of ₹ 88.50 lakh to 21 persons. Another 94 persons got loans to the tune of ₹ 83.50 lakh from Pazhayakaayal Cooperative Society and the rest was shared by various cooperative societies in the district.
The minister honoured winners of various competitions conducted for school students as part the Cooperative Week celebrations and children of cooperative society employees who had secured high marks in SSLC and Plus Two public examinations held in March.
