As many as 43 passengers, including 10 women, were injured when the private bus in which they were travelling overturned while negotiating a curve at SS Kottai in Tirupattur police sub-division on Wednesday.

Police said the bus, proceeding from Madurai to Karaikudi, turned upside down after the driver lost control owing to rash driving. While most of the injured were treated at the local Government Hospital as out-patients, six passengers, who suffered grievous injuries, were referred to hospitals in Sivaganga and Madurai, police said. Local people and police rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital in ambulances.
