Navy conducts yoga camp for service personnel and their families

Various organisations and institutions in the district observed International Day of Yoga on Wednesday.

The Southern Naval Command in the city conducted a yoga camp for the service personnel and their families. Vice Admiral A. R. Karve, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, also participated in the camp which was attended by over 800 persons. A pledge “to make yoga an integral part of daily life” was taken on the occasion.

The yoga camp was conducted in two sessions of one hour each for persons below 40 years and those above 40.

The participants were introduced to asanas, pranayama, conditioning practices and breathing exercises. A discourse on yoga called for its integration into daily life.

The District Panchayat, Indigenous Medicine Department and the District Ayurveda Hospital organised a rally from the hospital premises up to the High Court junction and back. Hibi Eden, MLA, inaugurated the Yoga Day programme at the hospital.
