VACB to submit report soon

June 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kochi unit of the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau (VACB) is slated to submit next week its report on a quick verification into the allegations against Excise Minister K. Babu in the bar bribery case.

Official sources said the investigation team, led by Dy.SP M.N. Ramesh, collected statements of the Minister at the PWD rest house at Tripunithura on May 4. During the process that lasted for over two hours, Mr. Babu firmly denied all allegations levelled against him by Biju Ramesh, working president, Kerala Bar Hotels Association (KBHA).

“It was conducted secretly and the guesthouse was selected to evade media attention,” the sources said, adding that the Minister had termed the allegations politically motivated.

The quizzing of Mr. Babu also marked the conclusion of the verification.
