The Aluva police have launched a probe into the alleged suicide of a 58-year-old woman from West Bengal, who was found hanging inside a well near Thottakattukkara on Thursday.
The woman, identified as Jangli Hanadi, was found hanging from the concrete plank on top of the well in the backyard of a house here. She had come to Aluva some three months ago and was working as a home nurse for one Marykutty who lives alone.
Preliminary probe revealed that Jangli took the extreme step when Marykutty was away to attend a funeral. An investigation is on to trace the factors leading to her death. The body will be handed over to relatives after post mortem.
In a separate case, a 69-year-old person, identified as Augustin, was found hanging from a tree near his house. The police said the deceased had been ailing for a while.
A case for unnatural death has been registered.
