The troll treatment

: Social media trollers received a godsend on Thursday with Speaker N. Sakthan’s ‘footwear act’.

Trollers went active after Mr. Sakthan cited an eye-related disease for getting his chauffeur’s help to remove his footwear. A post on Facebook was a scene from Nadodikkattu where Mohanlal’s character says he has sore eyes to justify his act of keeping his sunglasses on, indoors, in his boss’s presence.

This invoked the response that it was a peculiar disease which surfaced only while removing the footwear. Another post wondered how the Speaker, who despite the commotion on the floor of the House still managed to gesture to Finance Minister K.M. Mani to present the budget, had developed an eye disorder within months. Another post carried the controversial photo with this caption: “Sakthan Thampuran of the temple of Indian democracy.”
