Team probing Perumbavoor murder may be shuffled

Even as protests over the delay in nabbing the culprit behind the rape and murder of a Dalit woman in Perumbavoor are intensifying with each passing day, a shuffle in the investigation team is likely to be effected on Wednesday.

Confirming the development, sources hinted at action against the officers who were initially in charge, upon finding out that they had failed to collect evidence promptly.

The police are yet to come out with any conclusive lead as the investigation is currently based around the victim’s classmate at the Government Law College in Ernakulam.

Earlier probes focusing on the victim’s neighbours and migrant workers are yet to provide any breakthrough even as the police dole out contradicting versions on the progress of the probe.

Meanwhile, activists of the Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha (KPMS) will hold an indefinite relay fast in front of the Ernakulam district collectorate from May 27, demanding handing over of the case to the CBI.
