In a late night operation, the Aluva police seized unaccounted money to the tune of Rs.43 lakh and apprehended two persons in this connection.

The arrested have been identified as Anwar 29 and Abdul Khader, 20, both residents of Anjukunnu near Mananthavady of Wayanad district, who were held during a routine vehicle check by the police. The currencies, in the denomination of 500 and 1000, were found concealed under the seat of the car in which the duo was travelling. The police suspect that the two persons were trying to route black money to the Gulf through hawala channels.

Based on a tip-off, the police stopped the car (KL 72 1945), proceeding towards Thrissur, at Aluva bypass junction.
