Quality of potable water, ice to be checked

The Health Department will take steps to ensure the supply of good quality potable water in the summer season, District Medical Officer N.K. Kuttappan has said. Wells and quarries from where potable water is supplied would be checked regularly. A plan was being devised for quality check, he added.

While the Kerala Water Authority is supplying chlorinated water, no quality check is done on drinking water supplied in cans to commercial places or even to homes.

Health authorities are also on alert to check the supply of contaminated ice during festivals and celebrations where cool drinks are served, the DMO said.
