Protection for vendors

November 18, 2019 11:50 pm | Updated 11:50 pm IST - KOCHI

The Kochi Corporation has identified 2,000 street vendors as eligible to be protected under the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act. The Town Vending Committee of the Corporation prepared the list after a directive from the Kerala High Court.

A few street vendors of Kochi had approached the court seeking protection under the Act. The court also instructed that none of the existing street vendors shall be evicted from the street until further orders. The case will be considered on November 26.
