IIT Roorkee team inspects flyover
A team of experts from IIT Roorkee inspected the damaged Palarivattom flyover on Saturday to assess its strength. Earlier, a team of structural engineering experts from IIT Madras had inspected the flyover which developed cracks within two years of its commissioning.
Chennai train detained
The Alappuzha-Chennai Express (Train No. 22640) was detained at Angamaly for over an hour on Saturday evening after the bio-toilet of a coach got loose and began scraping the tracks. Personnel of the railway mechanical department arrived at the spot and detached the railway mail service coach from the train. Passengers who were travelling in the coach were accommodated in other coaches. Other trains were diverted through the loop line, official sources said.
