A Syndicate meeting of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) held here on Friday appointed P.G. Sankaran, professor of statistics, as its 13th Pro-Vice Chancellor.
He is a member of the International Statistical Association in Netherlands, American Mathematical Society, Institute of Mathematical Statistics, International Indian Statistical Association, and the International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics, US.
Dr. Sankaran was Pro-Vice Chancellor of the varsity from August 29, 2017 to November 20, 2018.
He started his career as a statistician in the Spices Board in 1993 and later joined Marthoma College, Perumbavoor, as a lecturer in 1995. He was appointed lecturer in statistics at Cusat in 1997.
Dr. Sankaran has worked as senior research fellow, CSIR; BOYSCAST fellow, Department of Science and Technology, and member of the International Statistical Institute of Netherlands.
He won the Young Researcher Award of the International Indian Statistical Association for the year 2010.
