The spree of arrests under King Cobra, an operation launched by the city police with the aim of cleansing the city of criminal activities, continued as the number of arrests stood at 234 in over 160 cases.

According to a release issued by the city police here, the arrested include 40-odd goondas, while 10 cases have been registered for the sale and use of drugs. The series of raids launched under the operation have led to the arrest of numerous long-absconding accused and others, including history-sheeters and accused in various assault cases, states the release.

Surveillance has been intensified and the crackdown will continue in the coming days, the release quotes the District Police Chief (Kochi City) S. Surendran as saying.

Squads formed as part of the operation have been given targets with instructions to crack down on areas known to be hangouts of miscreants, says the release.
