The Kochi police on Wednesday arrested the main accused in the demolition of Sapphire Hotel at Jos Junction two weeks ago.

The accused was identified as Jaimon aka Joy, who led the demolition operations. He was arrested from a farm house owned by the building owner in rural Karnataka. Investigations revealed that Jaimon carried out the demolition at the behest of Kanoos Khadar Pilla, the building owner.

The case pertains to the pulling down of a portion of the restaurant using excavators in the guise of metro rail workers around 1.30 a.m on October 16. Earlier, the police had arrested two Tirunelveli natives in this connection.
