Nurses block entry to Lakeshore Hospital

Nurses at Lakshore Hospital blocked the entrance to the institution and burned managing director Philip Augustine in effigy on Thursday after the talks mediated by the Labour Commissioner ended in failure.

At the meeting, the nurses stuck to their demand for reinstating two dismissed nurses while the management would not budge from its decision, terming the dismissal as termination of the training period.

The hospital management accused the agitating nurses of trying to destabilise the smooth functioning of the organisation by laying siege to the main entrance. A release issued by the administration alleged that the striking nurses were preventing doctors and other staff from entering the hospital.

At Sunrise Hospital

The nurses at Sunrise Hospital have threatened to go on strike on Saturday if talks regarding reinstating one of the nurses fail on Thursday. Already three rounds of talks, including one on Thursday, failed as the management stuck to the stance of not taking back the nurse who was dismissed.
