NIAT to celebrate 59th inception day

The Naval Institute of Aeronautical Technology (NIAT), arguably the largest aviation technical training facility in India, has stepped into its diamond jubilee year with the establishment, located in the Naval Base here, celebrating its 59th inception day on Saturday.

NIAT trains technical officers in naval aviation, sailors and aircrew of the naval air arm and those of the Coast Guard besides personnel of friendly foreign navies. An in-house cultural show organised as part of the festivities has Rear Admiral K. Ravi Kiran, Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Ship Repair Yard as the chief guest. He presented the best instructor trophy to Kamlesh Kumar Jha, Master Chief Petty Officer.

A community outreach service at Don Bosco Sneha Bhawan, Palluruthy, painting competition for children and a two-day cycling expedition to Kombanad were held in connection with the anniversary. Commodore Sanjeev Dureja is the director of NIAT.
