Minority panel’s call

Christians urged to utilise welfare schemes

May 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - KOCHI:

The nearly 6.5-million Christians in the country had shown little interest in the welfare measures for the minorities envisaged in the Constitution and given shape by Parliament, member of the Kerala Minority Commission V.V. Joshi said here on Wednesday. He was cited in a press release from the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) as saying that the community should be alert to take advantage of the schemes meant for the uplift of the minorities.

Mr. Joshi was addressing a meeting of the heads of Christian educational institutions at the Pastoral Orientation Centre, headquarters of the KCBC. — Special Correspondent
