Mahatma Gandhi University has decided to withdraw the error-filled prospectus for admission to its B. Ed courses for the new academic year.

The Hindu had reported on Wednesday that the prospectus published on the official website www.mgu.ac.in was fraught with errors.

“The revised prospectus will be uploaded on the website by Thursday evening. All the mistakes will be rectified,” Registrar M.G. Unni told The Hindu over telephone on Wednesday. A meeting of the senior officials concerned will be held on Thursday morning to delete the errors and finalise the revised prospectus.

The varsity while accepting the mistakes, pointed out that they got only a day to publish the prospectus following an order issued by the Higher Education Department.

The revised prospectus will correct a major error published earlier that the training colleges affiliated to the varsity will offer B. Ed programmes in Tamil and Urdu. No institution under the varsity is offering such courses. The officials also admitted that they failed to make changes in the prospectus published last year by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, which had conducted the State-level online registration and allotment under the single window admission for B.Ed. courses. The errors related to the reservation of seats for students in Lakshadweep and Mahe will also be corrected.

The revised prospectus will also bring clarity on reservation of seats for students applying under certain special categories.
