A man was found dead in a canal in Perumbavoor under suspicious circumstances on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Baiju, 41, of Aimury in Perumbavoor.
The body was found in the Periyar valley canal along BOC road in the morning. A painter, he might have been on his way home when he met with the tragic end around midnight. He was suspected to have died in a road accident as a motorcycle was found near his body.
He was found to have sustained head injuries. But the police would not confirm anything and have chosen to wait for the autopsy report.
A case of unnatural death was registered and a probe is underway.
Preliminary investigations point to the possibility of the victim having lost control of the motorcycle after it hit the edge of the canal after falling into it.
The body was handed over to the relatives after the autopsy.
