A 20-year-old man working in a rice mill at Angamaly was killed after being trapped under a heap of rice bran that fell on him.
The deceased has been identified as Deepu Shetty, native of Ganjam district of Odisha. The incident took place at around 8.10 a.m after Deepu turned up for duty at the Rice Tech Agro Mill Pvt Ltd in Yordhanapuram near Angamaly.
“The accident occurred when a huge heap of rice bran fell on him while collecting the same using a shovel. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died a couple of hours later”, officials said.
Examinations showed that the dry particles had entered his respiratory system.
