The north police have arrested a lawyer on the charge of sexually abusing an unmarried girl for years.
According to a release issued by the police here, Dhaneesh of Aluva allegedly abused the girl originally from Kannur, at a flat on SRM Road in 2014 and then continued it for years by threatening to make it public. He had taken her to the flat of his friend on the pretext of taking her to hospital when she fell ill.
When the victim threatened to reveal the incident to her family, the accused threatened to publish on the internet the video clippings of the abuse. The accused then allegedly abused her frequently by sending the family members away on one pretext or another, the police said. The police said that the accused had also allegedly duped the victim’s mother of ₹28 lakh, citing various reasons after earning her trust.
Dhaneesh had gone absconding after the victim lodged a police complaint. He was arrested with the help of the cyber police.
Dhaneesh entered the victim’s life as a saviour when she, along with her family, was living in Aluva in 2014. It was after he got the family shifted to a hotel at Varappuzha during the floods that they came to know about the abuse of the girl.
