May 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - KOCHI:

A review meeting to take stock of the progress in the construction of Kochi Metro will be held at the office of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) on May 11 at 4 p.m.

The meeting will be chaired by the Minister for Railways Aryadan Mohammed. All issues hindering the smooth progress of the construction works are likely to come up for discussion at the meeting. Construction of stations, installation of girders, widening of road are among the issues to feature in the review meeting

A deadline of June 2016, has been set for completion of Metro works in the stretch between Aluva and Maharaja s College. The construction is yet to gather momentum considering the fact that the deadline is just a year away. The construction of many metro stations hasn’t been started yet. While contractors attribute the delay to the delay in acquiring land, KMRL puts the blame on shortage of workers. – Staff Reporter
