May 31, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:09 am IST - Kochi:

The newly-formed Kerala Congress (Secular) has decided to field its own candidate from Aruvikkara in the forthcoming by-election.

At a meeting of the party’s State executive here on Saturday, four prospective candidates were shortlisted.

“We have shortlisted Thathu Annan, award-winning teacher Sathya Jose, Pirappancode Shajahan, and Aryanad Sanal in an internal democratic exercise. They will tour the panchayats in the constituency with an internally-prepared ballot sheet and seek the voters’ referendum. The candidate who polls maximum number of votes will be announced at the Press Club in Thiruvananthapuram on June 3,” P.C. George, MLA, who attended the meeting, told The Hindu over the phone.
