Kakkanad shop fined for MRP violation

The Central Zone of the Legal Metrology Department on Friday slapped a fine of ₹15,000 on an electrical shop at Kakkanad for alleged sale of electric fuse at rates above the maximum retail price (MRP).

The shop allegedly sold electric fuse, originally priced at ₹45 each, at ₹75. Moreover, Goods and Services Tax was collected. R. Ram Mohan, Deputy Controller (Central Zone), said the action was taken 15 minutes after receiving a complaint. The department will initiate action against the management as per the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, he added.
