The Japanese naval ship Samidare, commanded by Commander Gen Kawai, is on a visit to Kochi till December 22. The ship will depart for Bahrain before being deployed in the Gulf of Aden for anti-piracy patrol.

Captain Takahiro Nishiyama, Commander of Escort Division Four, accompanied by the Commanding Officer of the visiting ship and CO of the Japan Coast Guard Somalia Dispatch Investigation Team, called on Vice Admiral A.K. Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command on Friday. During the ship’s stay in Kochi, Indian naval personnel visited Samidare and professional exchanges between both navies were held. The visiting ship’s crew was given a guided tour of certain professional schools and the Naval Maritime Museum.
