Irregularities alleged in land acquisition

January 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:56 am IST - KOCHI:

The people’s action council protesting against the Pachalam Railway Overbridge on Wednesday alleged that massive irregularities had taken place in the acquisition of land for the project and demanded a probe by a central agency into the issue.

According to the protesters, while the government has agreed to give a compensation of Rs.14 lakh per cent, the documents available with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which executes the project, showed the price as Rs.35 lakh per cent. This pointed to misappropriation.

As per their document, the agency will take over about 46.4 cents of land for the project. – Staff Reporter
