Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has been ensuring that the supply of petrol and diesel has been reaching across the State, including Munnar, which remained cut off during the height of the recent floods and landslips.

A statement issued by the public sector oil company said that IOC had started inter-State supply of fuel to Idukki to overcome the crisis.

Areas that could not be accessed from Kerala were given supplies from Madurai. Munnar and Marayoor were not accessible from Madurai, and fuel for those places were brought from Coimbatore.

K. Navin Charan, general manager, IOC, felicitated P.K. Sajeev and Company, Adimali, and employees Shaju and James for taking a risky journey to reach fuel to Munnar at the peak of the crisis.

Petrol sale in the State now stands at 75,861 kilolitres a month, while the sale of diesel is 1,01,239 kilolitres. The sale of petrol in Kochi stands at 9,585 kilolitres, while that of diesel is 16,673 kilolitres.

IOC has a total of 909 outlets in the State with a market share of more than 47% in petrol and nearly 47% in diesel. Meanwhile, another statement issued by the IOC said the company had been reaching aviation turbine fuel to help in rescue efforts and to meet civil aviation requirements in the State.

All defence aircraft like IL-76 and Hercules C-130/C-17 and rescue choppers like MI–17/8, Chethak, and Sea King were refuelled by IOC.
