A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday admitted a writ petition filed by the Association of Structural and Geotechnical Consulting Engineers, Ernakulam, challenging the decision of the State government to demolish and reconstruct the Palarivattom flyover without conducting load test.

The court ordered that the petition be tagged with similar petitions pending before it.

Directive sought

The petitioners sought a directive to conduct a load test to ascertain the structural stability of the flyover. If the bridge passed the load test, the flaws could be rectified based on a detailed study and recommendations by a reputed agency in the field of bridge engineering with substantial experience in bridge design and retrofitting/rehabilitation.
