Fill vacancies in Bevco: HC

Bevco asked to follow 2002 government order

June 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala High Court has directed the State government to implement the order on filling 25 per cent of all the daily wage employment vacancies in the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (Bevco) by liquor workers registered with Abkari Welfare Fund Board.

Justice A. Muhammed Mustaque, while issuing the directive to implement the order in two months, observed that the State having decided to rehabilitate the liquor workers as per the order issued in 2002 could not turn around and take a stand that the order could not be implemented for want of vacancies or for some other reason.

The court also asked the Bevco to follow the 2002 government order for all future vacancies.

The directives came on the petitions filed by the Kerala State Kallu Chethu Vyavasaya Videsha Madya Thozhilali Union and others.
