A 40-year-old man was found dead in a river at Puthenvelikara in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased man, identified as Antony Thomas, is suspected to have died of electrocution. Antony had gone out for fishing using a Chinese fishing net around 9 p.m. the previous night. A search party of friends and relatives were on the look out for him at night when one among the group felt an electric shock from the iron frames of the fishing net.
