The digital survey of 1.03 lakh flood-hit homes in Ernakulam has been completed.

District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla said on Saturday that Ernakulam leads the flood-affected districts in the implementation of the digital survey process. About 8,000 volunteers from 35 colleges were part of the survey. The data collection is being done through the website rebuild.lsgkerala.gov.in. The details will be submitted before the government for approval.

Mr. Safirulla said the survey of remaining houses would be over in two weeks. The distribution of immediate financial aid to the flood-hit families has been progressing in a transparent manner. The errors that emerged in the data collection process will be resolved in three days. The relief programmes have been taking place on a war footing. The removal of flood-contaminated waste will be completed by Sunday.

The Collector said the ‘Shradha’ project initiated to check the spread of infectious diseases in the flood-affected regions has evoked enthusiastic response. Volunteers have been visiting homes every three days to conduct the health survey. One volunteer visits 40 homes. NSS volunteers in the district had organised a campaign against the spread of fever.

As on Saturday, the district administration has distributed 2.29 lakh relief kits in Paravur, Aluva, Kanayannur, Kochi, Kunnathuaad, and Muvattupuzha taluks. The families belonging to the below poverty line category were provided with the remaining relief kits through camps being held in various schools. Over 40,000 such kits were distributed to families at Paravur, Aluva and Kanayannur taluks.

The free electric and plumbing service initiative will be held in flood-hit regions from Sunday. It will be held for 10 days.
