Cardinal back from Rome

Cardinal George Alencherry, head of the Syro-Malabar Church, returned to Kochi from Rome after attending the installation ceremony of 14 Cardinals, who were newly appointed by Pope Francis. The Cardinal was one of the co-celebrants with the Pope at the Mass offered at St. Peter’s Square on June 29 for the installation of the new Cardinals. He met the Pope briefly after the Mass and later met Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Oriental Congregation, and discussed with him matters pertaining to the Catholic Church in India and the needs of the Syro-Malabar communities in the Gulf countries, said a press release here.
