Breastfeeding pods at metro

Published - February 08, 2019 01:51 am IST - KOCHI

Breastfeeding pods will be opened at four Kochi metro stations on Friday. Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) managing director A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish will inaugurate the facility at a function to be held at the Aluva station. The 4x4-ft room will be installed at Aluva, Edappally, Lissie Junction, and M.G. Road stations. A mother can comfortably feed her child while waiting for the train. There will be a comfortable bench seat, in-use locks for privacy, light, fan, and other basic facilities. “The attempt is to give mothers a private breastfeeding space at metro stations. KMRL is a women-friendly organisation with close to 700 women employees and hence we are happy to introduce one more facility for women.” Mr. Hanish said.

Cimar Hospitals is sponsoring the pods.
