Benny Behanan, UDF candidate in Chalakudy, arriving with his family to cast vote at Bharat Matha College, Thrikkakara, on Tuesday.

UDF convener and candidate from the Chalakudy Lok Sabha segment Benny Behanan said here on the polling day that there was a “Rahul wave” across the State. The verdict of the people would be against communalism and the politics of violence, he said, adding that the long queues in front of the polling booths pointed to a Rahul wave. The voting, he predicted, was for the formation of a secular government headed by the Congress. It was also against the arrogance of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Mr. Behanan said Chalakudy would now get a full-time MP. The people wanted to make up for the five lost years. He also exuded confidence about winning with a huge margin.
