American held with live bullets at airport

A 40-year-old U.S. national who was heading for Delhi from Cochin International Airport Ltd. was arrested by the Nedumbassery police after finding two live bullets in his check-in baggage.

The person has been identified as Casey Paul Parez. The screening staff at the airport detected the bullets around 6 p.m. on Monday.

It was reported to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which handed over the passenger to the Nedumbassery police. The passenger is reported to have reached Kochi from Texas via Dubai and was scheduled to go to Delhi.

CISF personnel pointed out that he had not declared the possession of bullets.

The passenger also lacked supporting documents for possessing the ammunition, they said.

A case under the provisions of Arms Act was registered against the person.
