Alignment for overbridge at Vathuruthy finalised

January 12, 2019 11:59 pm | Updated 11:59 pm IST - KOCHI

The alignment for an overbridge at Vathuruthy, which had become contentious with the Navy expressing reservations about the plan prepared by the RBDCK, citing safety of aircraft taking off from the adjacent Naval airport, has now been finalised. The preference was given to the one prepared by the DMRC in which the structure would begin from the Mattancherry Halt railway station, K.V. Thomas, MP, said in a press release.

This followed a review meeting convened here on Saturday. Both the Navy and Cochin Port have agreed to the alignment. An official declaration will be made after the RBDCK, which is slated to build the bridge, and the Railway hold another round of talks on January 23, he said.

The KIIFB has already committed funds for the bridge.
