Self-confidence and ability to communicate are the cornerstones of success in the Indian Administrative Service examinations, said A. R. Rahul Nath, who topped the IAS examinations this year from Kerala.

He was interacting with IAS aspirants at a function organised by the Vocational Guidance section of the District Employment Exchange here on Thursday at the conference hall of the district collectorate.

Mr. Nath advised the more than 350 aspirants who attended the session, to work hard and read extensively.

He told them not to look upon the Indian Administrative Service as just another job.

It should be one's commitment to society that urged one to take the IAS examinations, he said.

Mr. Nath, who came 27th at the all-India level, was received enthusiastically by the aspirants before the interactive session was inaugurated by District Collector P. I. Sheik Pareed.

Mr. Nath eagerly answered questions from the IAS aspirants, who interacted with him. Coordinator of the programme, Benny Mathew, made a multi-media presentation on the topic, ‘From application for the civil services examinations to interview' in Malayalam. Zonal director O. R. Kanthan and district employment officer M. N. Prabhakaran were among those who spoke at the session.
