Veteran journalist passes away

Veteran PTI journalist K.P. Krishnanunny passed away at a private hospital here this morning.

Mr. Krishnanunny, 92, was ailing from some time, his family said.

He is survived by son K. Ashok Kumar, Vice President of Times of India Group, and two daughters. His wife pre-deceased him.

In Delhi, he covered the diplomatic beat for a long time.

Mr. Krishnanunny started his journalistic career with Reuters in Colombo in 1942 during the Second World War before he returned to India and joined PTI on February 1, 1949, the day it started functioning.

After his retirement from PTI , ‘KPK’, as he was fondly known, did freelancing work for over a decade contributing to major newspapers.

Highlighting 37 years of his journalistic experiences, KPK, has penned a book titled ‘Reporting Memories.’
