Participants at a meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC) here on Saturday were of the view that trees that were suited to various localities should be chosen to be planted in the respective areas.

It is crucial in preventing accidents due to trees falling on roads and buildings, they said.

A press release issued here on Saturday said that the meeting had discussed in detail incidents that were reported in the district.

MLA from Thrikkakara constituency P.T. Thomas brought the incidents to the notice of the District Development Committee, the press release added.

The meeting also discussed the recent incident in which a young two-wheeler rider lost his life in Aluva town after a tree fell on him.
