300 farmers in Kothamangalam to receive land titles

Step is part of 100-day action plan of State govt

The district administration will hand over 300 land title deeds to farmers in Kothamangalam as part of the 100-day action plan of the State government, which is part of the the government’s one year in office celebrations. The distribution of the land title deeds will end years of wait by the farmers, said a communication here from the Public Relations Department.

The land title deeds are being distributed through a special order from the government. In addition to the 300 title deeds to the farmers, around 200 title deeds are being distributed for residential purpose in Kothamangalam.

There will be a total of 500 title deeds being distributed in Kothamangalam and the taluk will see the largest number of title deeds being given away in Ernakulam district. Residents in all 14 villages, including those in the hilly Kuttampuzha village, will be the beneficiaries during this round of title deeds distribution. Kuttampuzha will see 250 title deeds being distributed and the village will have the largest number of fresh title deeds.

A team of officials from the Revenue Department led by Kothamangalam tahsildar Rachel K. Varghese is coordinating the work to distribute the land titles, which will help the beneficiaries obtain benefits of possessing land titles, including bank loans.

An earlier communication from the government had said 530 land titles were distributed after the new government came to office one year ago. A total of 6,217 title deeds were distributed during the period when the previous government was in office. It is expected that a total of 30,000 land titles will be distributed across the State as part of the 100-day action plan of the government.
