A 20-year-old youth was apprehended for allegedly using unparliamentary language against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and the people of Telangana on the Tik Tok app and uploading the video clip on social media.

According to the Cyber Crime Station of Rachakonda police, the accused was identified as Thagaram Naveen, a degree student and resident of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh.

‘Case promotes enmity’

Police described the case as one which promotes enmity between the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The video clips had objectionable language, police said.

Naveen allegedly uploaded the video on social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp and the video went viral.

Acting on a complaint by V. Ram Narasimha Goud, TRS Vidyarthi Vibhagam Ranga Reddy district president, police booked a case against the accused under Section 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.

Police said that the incident took place on April 14 when Naveen, while celebrating his birthday with his friends on the city outskirts, recorded the objectionable video clip.

Police also seized two smart phones from the accused youth. An investigation has been launched by the police.
